The Work That We Do

Our workshop is filled with the sounds of sewing machines, scissors cutting fabric, the iron hissing... These noises are part of our daily lives, and we like sharing our space with them. The dress shown in this short film is composed of many layers of fabric, like layers of sound, that are vibrating in the presence of silence. The system is activated by a series of sensors and micro-motors, creating its own soundscape. Like the memories of its construction, the dress is buzzing, evoking a sewing machine motor, or a breath - perhaps that of its creator.
